Gaming Computer
I built this computer in September 2005 using money I made interning over the summer at EDT. I’ve added a couple things since its birth, including a new graphics card stolen from my brother (he never noticed), a new PSU, a sound card, and a plethora of hard drives. Here’s the current setup:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (Manchester, socket 939)
Motherboard: DFI LanParty UT Ultra-D
Memory: 2 x 1 GB OCZ Dual Channel Platinum PC3200
Graphics Card: Sapphire HD 3850
Sound Card: Creative Audigy2 ZS Platinum
TV Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800
Hard Drive 1: 74 GB Western Digital Raptor (10,000 RPM)
Hard Drive 2: 320 GB Maxtor (7,200 RPM)
Hard Drive 3: 250 GB Seagate Barracuda (7,200 RPM)
Hard Drive 4: 500 GB Western Digital (7,200 RPM)
Hard Drive 5: 750 GB Seagate (7,200 RPM)
Hard Drive 6: 750 GB Seagate (7,200 RPM)
SATA Controller: Rosewill RC-211 2 port SATA-II
DVD Drive: NEC DVD-RW
Case: Antec SuperLanboy
Power Supply: OCZ GameXStream 600 (600 watts)
Monitor 1: Samsung 225bw 22″ (1680 by 1050, 5ms)

My top 3dmark05 score with my old graphics card (ATI x850 XT PE) was 7137 3dmarks. I need to retest it with the HD 3850!

New Thinkpad:
Brand new to me, this laptop is the standard issue for freshmen at RPI. Strictly speaking, it’s a performance upgrade from my Desktop. But my desktop will remain my primary computer.

My top 3dmark05 score is 8072!.
ThinkPad (Resurrected Again!):
My little old ThinkPad T23 has been through some rough times. It’s on its fourth hard drive, third battery, second motherboard, and second bezel. I received it as a gift from Intel in fall 2005. Since then, I’ve added 256 mb of RAM and painted it metallic green. It’s still with me today, but all I ever use it for is charging USB devices and looking pretty. The battery sports a whopping 40 minutes of charge
Processor: Pentium III 1.2 ghz
Memory: 512 MB
Graphics: On Board Savage3D Shared RAM
Hard Drive: 40 GB Toshiba 5400 RPM
DVD Drive IBM DVD/CD-RW Drive
Screen: 14.1″ 1400 by 1050 TFT
Wireless: Built in 802.11 b/g 11 Mbps
Operating System: Windows XP “SP3″

Compaq Laptop (needs a HDD)
I recieved this laptop from my aunt in “dead” condition. I put in a new hard drive, and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Since I’m cheap, I chose not to put Windows on an aging computer, so I installed Fedora Core 4 instead. It’s more of a hobby computer than a work computer, but I’ve used it at school on occasion for presentations while my ThinkPad was dead. Update:I removed its hard drive to use in my ThinkPad, so it’s currently inoperable.
Processor: Pentium III 800 mhz
Memory: 256 mb
Hard Drive: None
DVD Drive: Compaq DVD/CD ROM
Screen: 14″ 1024 by 768 TFT
Operating System: None, previously Fedora Core 4
